After six years in Medical School in Cardiff I decided to train as a pathologist, but after three years I realised that that wasn’t the career for me so I came to Gloucestershire to train as a GP in 2005. I joined Barnwood in 2008 and I’m now one of the executive partners at Aspen Medical Practice. I work full-time and I have clinical interests in Diabetes and lifestyle, Men’s Health, Cancer, Dermatology, skin surgery and ENT medicine. I particularly enjoy looking after people with complex conditions and older people. I work in A&E one evening a week and I’m also vice-chairman of the Gloucestershire Local Medical Committee, which represents the GPs of Gloucestershire. What little spare time I have left is mostly spent with my wife and teenage daughters. I enjoy swimming, live music and I’m somewhat obsessed with rocket science and all things space. I even helped my best friend to set up a rum company, which over the past two years has been an awful lot of fun…Dr Jhumpa Sarkar – Female
